I've been a handbell player at church for 7-8 years now. I'm pretty good. Not the best player, by fair, but good none the less. I play two positions and the bells are pretty big. (A3-F4, if you know bells). This weekend our bell group is playing during the 11 am service, but I had plans to be in Marble Falls this weekend entertaining two of Dennis' second cousins. The director of the bell group will have to get a sub - make that 2 subs, because I play two positions! I wish he had consulted with the bell group members before he decided which Sundays to schedule us for!
I wish I could perform with them, because that's the reason I practice so hard. I think that playing the bells keeps me mentally sharp, because it's very demanding mentally. Sometimes I chuckle while I play because I amaze myself at my ability to play so many big bells, so fast!
